canvassed mind - original poem

 canvassed mind

the bronzed pages
thumb-creased covers
implore me
to discover your characters
visit your foreign lands

spawned from the kink
in evolutionary metamorphosis
towards a sense of higher purpose
rather than one
of proprietary survival

let me visualize the world
that shook your soul
and rotated your wrists
with enough torque
to write such emotive work

my eyes are numb
in the simplicity of your similes
by your stylized rhymes
and immaculate pacing
over the once barren fields

now splayed with latexed colors
far from their initial titanium whites
that sheeted existence blandly
your texts have begun to paint
my blank canvassed mind

Gregory Benford Covers #1

Gregory Benford...another hard SF classic author with a bunch of titles to his name.   I think "Across the Sea of Suns" is going to be my first read by him soon since I have a number of  cover variants.

paperback pages [precious] - original poem

paperback pages [precious]

pages are precious
and so is the settled
inlaid ink
when the pulp
contains ancient truths
inscriptions scribed
by trembling hands
of terrorized children
taken victim
by history's drafts
so brutal
and forceful
bringing their petals
to new flowers
drawn
on precious
little
paperback
pages

untitled #13 - original poem

untitled #13

looking backward
from the outside in
fields of coriander
stand between us

rows of green beans
and stalks of corn
patterning
the passing pictures

moving past
the window seat viewfinder
whipping past
your breezy hair
flapping in the aerodyne

hand-painted yellow
Lego building blocks
divide us
from incoming
snake oil tanker trucks

but the dried squares
are never enough
to keep us safe
and prevent us
from fixating backwards

miles are to be harvested
long before moonshine
now hanging on stakes to dry
before the crimson sunrise
in the West Virginian
za za clouds

falling from the sky
in plain view

Arthur C. Clarke Covers #1

Another fellow scientist-turned-author...Arthur C. Clarke.  While I do own many of his titles and covers (there are a multitude), I have not really dived into most of his works.  Let me know if you have an opinion of which titles or series I should start with.  Cheers!

harmonium of chaos - original poem

harmonium of chaos

harmonious
with the torn tissue
and fallen
purple petals
minty green leaves
gone stale
brown and crispy
in the flares
of the open carried sun
wholly and lawfully
toying
with the contrast knob
on the orderly
professional panel
producing scores
of celestial beats
titrated in
accordingly
and carefully slow
to find the key
isoelectric pocket
where all ions are used
kept raw
and dynamic
harbored in
a harmonium
of chaos
