L. Sprague de Camp Covers #1
L. Sprague de Camp is one of my favourite early SF writers. I personally think he does a great job linking sci-fi with fantasy concepts in his works. Also, you can feel the words of his texts exuding a massive amount of knowledge of how the world works. I also really enjoy his short stories, maybe even more than his full-length novels to be honest. Can't say that about many authors.
Let's look at some of his amazing cover variants here!

morda - original poem
morda
this forest
is filled
with creatures
of my lord's court
you may lose limbs
before sunrise
for this forest
is filled
with violent faeries
willing to help
on my mission
to destroy
all that you stand for
all that is pure
to please
the pleasant pageantries
playing in my Lord's mind
a thespian
of mental gruel
and medieval
celestial sorcery
I am the huntress
and you are the hunted
my precious one
I'm the captor
who will find your hiding spot
air you out
and give you up
to Satan and his crew
to serve our mother in the afterlife
and appease our father's death
for the realm of Morda
will forever live on
in generational spirals
our paths will cross
once again
as all that is enslaved
eventually does
at the bottleneck
gate-cover in the sky
we all need to comply
open it
mosey our way inside
for Morda

goalkicker - original poem
goalkicker
boots boosted
brain fried
running out
of borrowed time
simulated sincerely
stuck in a locket
with a lace
made of sticks
protecting
preserving
narrow
neural passageways
plausibly
possibly
providing something
with the power
deceive me
tug me along
a nodal cord
towards something sweeter
something strong
and much feistier
than yellow Listerine
in the misty
morning fog
or the decaliter
of moonshine
we use to soak
our tainted
trespassing feet
sanitizing each step
for the sake
of eternal rest
to share
a piecemeal with
the motherly
milkweed muggle
made
from tumbled traumas
and jangled cajoles
and disbelief
in the deeds of dust
or the power of fault lines
since everything my son
is so deeply
interconnected
feel the currents
wash our hands clean
be free from
locked doors
and narrow
neural passageways
let your toes breathe
in the wisp
of the Earths crust
silently shedding itself
continuously
beneath our feet
in a little sphere
drifting through infinity
kicked
by a champion
goalkicker

garbage man - original poem
garbage man
I'm the garbage man
who works with
the demon of death
you know why they call
my co-worker
the demon of death
don't you?
its meritorious
he's been employee of the month
for ages now
didn't you see his portrait
of shadowy demise
aligning the hallway
leading to the main lobby?
He's skilled
I presume -
at collecting trash
