John Farris Covers #1

John Farris is an excellent horror writer, one of my favourites.  I have majority of his works in my collection to date, but I am still always looking for cover variants.  Here are some of the best ones.

east ny - original poem

east ny

after videogames
at the chinatown fair
we get thick nissin
ramen noodle soup
flowered with Uzumaki swirls
decadently umami
until a go-shadow
lights my date's hair on fire
with a roman candle trick
as the ambulance lights fade
I ask -
why cant I enjoy
the simplest of things
the smallest of social circles
companied alone
in east NY

Let's take a look at some of Keith Laumer's SF novels and their lovely covers! A Trace of Memory might be one of my favourite SF covers of all time.

mythomaniac - original poem

mythomaniac

dick's a mythomaniac
and he's starting
his routine over
over all again

finding a new robe
to dress his wounds with
and covered up his sores
traumatic slices of flesh
in the name of
previous perpetrators

dick's a museful mime
and a man of many posters
who wont return any calls
someone who's an imposter
ready to make his move

a dancing artist
under live recorded screens
marching to the subsonic boom
of wolves at the door
of his treehouse hobbit hideout

where he stalks
and hunts his prey
throw it all into one pot
warmed by burning embers
igniting neural flammable cabinets

lining janitorial halls
forcing one to fumble
in the globe of playhouse
figmented sticks
that never cross

you're a murderer
the Chinese fortune man tells
we shape our own lives
day by day
how can one see
what hasn't happened yet

maybe by taking the time
to see what already has happened
on a mega boombox
playing the tunes
of your mythomanic
crazed lifestyle

soul tango - original poem

soul tango

Rene Descartes
Descartes Descartes
philosophize me this
how did you find the portal
egg-like conical gland
where body meets soul
or potentially discovered
vice versally

off by itself
not one, if a pair
not perfectly in the center
hiding behind the third ventricle
the pineal paradise
of etheric emanations
connected to
your ophthalmic system

conjoined functionality
contrasting phenomonology
no two souls
can be in the same place
at the same time
like Heisenberg
my intentions yearn
to gravitate our your moons
and tango
with your spirit webs

i wish to expand in your studies
in adductum
with a gaped section of time
a devious
and gromley progression

silently discovering
the quantum mechanics of the soul
the energy of vision
in a violent vulgarity
of scientific passion
and the dance patterns
of your tangoing soul

Robert Heinlein Covers #1

Robert Heinlein is a name most will recognize amidst the SF community.  He has reached heights amongst other greats like Asimov, Clark, and Herbert for his hard SF works and massive worlds.  I recently just picked up two cover variants of Glory Road I have never seen before at Half-Price Books, which inspired this post.  He has so many awesome covers and novels out there!  Highly suggest giving him a read.  I suggest starting with Stranger in a Strange Land or Glory Road.
